New To Club

Well just wanted to introduce myself,  Hi I am Chris Harriman

Thanks for allowing me to participate in this club, ran across it mentioned in the Texas Kayak Fishing forum, and thought. What a great idea, a place to kayak and no jet skis or 100 mph bass tournament fishing boats flying by.  I am in !!  Not a fan of having my kayak swamped by over zealous high speed boats.

Was enjoying the members photos when i kept running across a lake mentioned in them.  Oakwood-Lake Leon .  I noticed that lake is not listed in the fishing locations tab.  Is it a members lake or was one?

Also how do i post my pic for my profile and in the avatar spot?

When this crazy wet weather lets up and i can start fishing again, i hope to be participating in posting some of my catches.

Tight lines everyone !

Chris

Chris. Welcome to the club. I fish from a kayak. Can I assume you do also?

I live near San Antonio. Where are you located.

Chris. Looks like a nice kayak. I recently sold a Native Manta Ray and just purchased a Predator XL which has an integrated Minn Kota motor. Testing it today.

If you are interested in joining me, I will be fishing Crockett, Bryan, and Giddings March 31  - April 2.

Bill thanks for the invite, unfortunately i have to work those days, hopefully i can take a rain check on the invite, would love to fish with a fellow kayaker.

I noticed that i am close to some awesome club lakes.  I always just kayaked fish for crappie and some catfishing.  Went out yesterday and picked up a bait cast dual, a starter and some some baits that i seen everyone posting about.  6" Lizard, senkos, scum frog, and a buzz bait.  Think i cherry picked the most mentioned baits throughout the forum.  Think i am ready.  Just need some practice time with the bait cast.  been years since i through my old ambassador 500c

Chris,, save me some crappie at Bennett,, its quite a drive for me, but i need to get back down there... whether you like catfishing or not,, take you a bag of stink balls,, if nothing else is bitting you can always wear out the catfish there,, there are some huge cats in there... you can actually catch them casting from her dock.. the best spot for crappie is the marked brush piles (if its still marked from rains) just out about 20 yrds from the main house off to the right a little... and if you go over to the far end of the dam , the bank down the left there is in deep water and there are brush piles along that bank about 20 ft out from bank.. the creek runs along that bank.. if you have depth finder you will see them,, if not , put a big weight on one rod and lower it to the bottom and drag it around the area till you feel the brush, then throw a marker out and jig each brush pile.. find the brush piles in that lake , and you will find the crappie

Unfortunately Bennett was booked this weekend, but i scrambled and grab a day of fishing at Crockett Melody Acres.  Looking forward to casting and relaxing.

thanks for the tips Phillip, appreciate the heads up.  Will definitely hit up Bennett ASAP.  writing that info down.

Appreciate the fast response the admins do here, had a few questions that i couldn't find answers for in the FAQ section, and next day i got the hook up from them..  Great team.

tight lines everyone,

Chris

Melody Acres turn out to be a beautiful spot, the owners were awesome, i didn't catch anything, but that's due to my lack of fishing experience.  Ms. Patti told me where to fish and what to use, while i was eating a late lunch at my truck, was gearing up to use her suggestions when i did the most ignorant thing i could have done, I Checked my Phone...it was blowed up from problems at work and i had to cut my trip short.  Still got to spend a awesome day with pretty weather and scenery.  And i fixed things at work also..wink  Next time Melody Acres your mine !!

Wind sock for my Kayak and finish installing my trolley anchor system...Not letting the wind ruin my fishing again
