Hi Bradley,
All our lakes in south Texas are very low. Most are down 4 to 10 feet. We have closed the ones that we beleive are not fishable. They include San Saba, Wealder, and Bandera. All others are very low, but fishable.
Lago Escondido in Castroville is 6 foot low as the owner has an electric pump that helps keep up with natural evaporation.
Lakes like Tarpley Hill Country Ranch are 10 feet low and look not so good. But, that does not mean you cannot catch fish. In fact, the best report I have heard in Tarpley in years, came just 30 days ago.
Most of the area has seen 3-4” of rain as of August 28th. All of that went into the ground and created virtually no run off. But, with rain forecasted for the next 10 days, we hope some will convert to runoff. In theory, we just need one of the red or purple cells to sit over a lake for 30 minutes and it would do wonders for the lake. You never know!

Hey all – anyone know the water levels & general health of these three lakes near Dunlay, TX? We went to Encino in July & it was super low but healthy. Tracking rainfall amounts it looks like this area keeps getting JUST missed by these storms again & again. Hoping we don’t dry up or have a fish kill…
Best,
Brad
