Lake iced over, with very few, small patches of open water. Six inches of snow on ground. Gate roller and latch frozen. Managed to break gate loose. Parked at northwest corner of lake and hiked to blind. Did not have four-wheel drive, and did not want to risk getting stuck.

One flight of ring-necks flew east shoreline before legal shooting, but saw no open water and kept going. Only other activity was flight of five wigeon at 8:45a; took two.
